There are plenty of ways to be involved, join the fun and fundraise. Below are just some suggestions. We are sure there will be many others! Join us on Facebook to get inspiration from others and share your own ideas!
Join the Convoy
Take a look at the route and find your nearest location, date and time.* Bring a suitable pupil and come and join in the convoy. You can join in and drop off at any point of the relay. Drive as many legs as you like – the more cars that join in the merrier! Each leg will be led by the car carrying the Children in Need Top Box. The lead car ADIs’ details can be found in the route document so you know who to be looking for at each assembly point and can make contact in advance if you wish. A convoy of instructors with pupils making their way around the country is the vision. With your help we will make this work again this year. Pupils who joined the convoy last year really enjoyed it. It was a driving lesson with a difference and as well as having fun they learnt some great convoying skills!
* please note – despite our best efforts, times and locations may change due to traffic and weather conditions. We strongly advise you keep up to date with any last minute changes by checking the ‘route’ spreadsheet on this website and via our live Facebook and Twitter feeds – times are the LEAVING TIMES of each location. We recommend arriving 20 minutes before the times stated.
Go Spotty
Why not go spotty?
For the second year we are delighted to be able to offer two Pudsey logo stickers in each pack of spots. These are licensed by the BBC and are the ONLY Pudsey we are permitted to use. Any unofficial use of Pudsey will be an infringement of copyright. You can buy packs of spots in our online shop (see ‘shop’ tab above*) Going spotty is a simple, fun and eye catching way of joining in.
Over the last five years over £400,000 has been raised by pupils, friends, family members, football teams, school children, youth clubs, fellow ADIs, MPs and even a Driving Examiner or two sponsoring a spot. Up and down the country coloured spots were signed and then stuck on instructor cars and this soon became our Big Learner Relay theme.
*Once again this year a big thanks go to Collingwood Learner Driver Insurance who continue to support the Big Learner Relay by subsidising the cost of a pack of spots by 50%.
Fundraise
Whether you join a convoy or not it would be wonderful if you raised funds for Children in Need to add to our overall Big Learner Relay total. Driving Instructors all over the country have come up with fun, unique and crazy ideas, either as individuals, with pupils, with fellow instructors or within their local associations. Ideas included sponsored fancy dress lessons, spotty face painted lessons and local car washes. Come up with your own ideas; share them on our Facebook page; tell your local press and get yourself and your driving school into your local newspaper! An online donation page has been set up to make donating easy HERE
Track Your Own Fundraising
We are no longer able to use JustGiving as they have stopped offering a text to facility.  Please use our Donr account for your fundraising.  We have a main page but if you really want to track your own fundraising we can allocate you your own account which is linked to the overall BLR page.  If you do want to have your own fundraising account PLEASE use an account we can allocate to you as the fees to Children in Need are less and your total will be recognised within the BLR total.  Many people will find it easier to use the official Big Learner Relay Donr page.  Any cash or cheques you collect can be paid directly into the BLR bank account and it will all be transferred to Children in Need. Contact Amy DITV on facebook or email [email protected] for the bank details.
If you would like your own Donr page to track your own fundraising please email [email protected] and she will provide this.
